Any games we forgot feel free to tell us on our forums or in the live chatroom. Remember, only 64 games can get in so if you want one in give us a reason why, the game it should replace, and what you feel the seed it should get. Don't forget the 1 seed plays the 8 seed, 2 plays 7, 3 plays 6, and 4 plays 5, so if we have to squeeze it in an 8 seed it may go up against one of the giants and suffer a humiliating death, but you never know, it may create an upset and become a Cinderella Story. | |

[ IRON TANK "Menu"]
| |
from: wikipedia.org
Iron Tank: The Invasion of Normandy (known as Great Tank in Japan) is a 1988 top-view action shooting game produced by SNK for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is based on SNK's 1985 arcade game TNK III (which was released as TANK in Japan). Set during the invasion of Normandy, the player takes control of a commando named Paul (Colonel Ralf in the Japanese version, who also appeared in Ikari Warriors), as he mans the titular Iron Tank to infiltrate the German stronghold.
STORYLINE
From the NES Iron Tank instruction manual :
The Date: June 5, 1944. The United Forces are preparing for their final assault on the Normandy Coast. The Mission: Establish a beachhead, break through the front lines, and infiltrate and destroy enemy headquarters.
To spearhead the invasion, they have chosen Paul, from Command Unit 88 - a secret unit known as "Iron Snake." An experienced combat veteran with special forces training. Paul has been called a Man of Iron.
But to succeed in his mission, Paul will need the full firepower of the United Forces' mightiest fighting juggernaut: the Iron Tank!

This was the first time I actually heard of and sat down and played it. I saw it on ebay, I saw it was a SNK game, looked up a little bit of youtube gameplay coverage, and said I must own this and play it at least once.
So thats what I did, thanks to the good ole SNK Logo I knew I was in for something good. The action is tough, the music is what you would expect out of this company, and the graphics are pretty good for the nes game of its time. The only knock I thought I would throw against this game is that the enemies are so difficult because they come at you, but your tank is so much slower than them and you have to rotate the tanks cannon around while drving with awkward controls. Other than that, thanks to the password feature, this game is fun to play and one you can go back to. I recommend this game to everyone.
DIFFICULTY
This game is probably one of the most difficult games between your tanks slowness, the angles you have to switch your tanks cannon to shoot enemies, and the enemies themselves who seem faster than you. Their weapons also take you down quickly with alot of bullets they fire simutanously and not so much in a pattern. They also like to come after you and crash directly into you taking alot of damage. Thanks to the password feature the frustration of this difficulty allows you to actually play the game.
GRAPHICS
The graphics in this game are very good for its time. The background paths you walk switch often enough that you don't get board with the background and are very clear to see. The sprite/animations are amusing enough that they don't get old when enemies die, just when you do :(
MUSIC
SNK never lets you down for background music, and neither does this game. Although its really one beat throughout the war, it never gets annoying. The only sound effect I cannot stand is when you are recieving a call on the radio for a message. Its loud and sounds like something you would here if you are about to die, and its only as annoying because it lasts a good while as you move up the map and since you die alot you will here it everytime reminding you of your previous death.

-Again I advanced a little further up the boardwalk due to a nice starting spot. Died on the boardwalk again by random submarines, tanks, and the stupid plane that drops bombs on your slow little tank.
