This week the show airs on THURSDAY April 2nd 2009 @9PM!
Battles this week:
Super Mario World vs Zelda 3
Street Fighter II vs Mega Man X
Labels: 16 bit tournament, 8-bit show, Schedule Update

(1) Streets of Rage vs (8) Cool Spot
(4) Turtles in Time vs (5) Golden Axe
(3) Chrono Trigger vs (6) Stunt Race FX
(2) BattleToads/ Double Dragon vs (7)Aliens 3
Streets of Rage was one of the best beat-em-ups of all time. The size of the characters on the screen were huge compared to past games in the genre, giving this game more realistic feel to the game. Expect Streets to go deep in this block, if not to win the whole thing.
Yes as much as I love TMNT, Golden Axe was one of Sega's few gems. I expect this game to get to the Final 4 of THIS block, but not further since Streets of Rage was crazy good.
Stunt Race FX is the most under-rated game in this block. The game was fun, innovative for a racing game, and rather difficult. The unfortunate fate of this game is the fact that it's going up against Chrono Trigger. The game which went for over $1000 on ebay for a sealed copy. Doperule maybe?Chrono Trigger:

The ultimate cinderella story is Space Ace, one of the worst ports in the history of gaming for the SNES and a game I owned. I tried to like this game, however it just sucks.
One of my favorite fighting games of all time is up in this block,Killer Instinct, as it becomes apparent that the 16bit generation was all about head to head combat. Lots of groundbreaking games in this block as we only see 1 sequel, but lots of sequels spawn from this block.
Super Mario Kart is a heavy favorite to win this block, but Super Mario RPG will not go down without a fight from our listener-base.
Once again blood will be shed, and now that this block is upon us we really get to see how difficult this will be for our listeners to choose between their favorite games tonight @ 9pm!

-Super Ghouls 'N' Ghosts carries the known name, so expect votes to swing this way, couple that with the fact that sports games get no love from the current regulars in the chatroom and Mutant League Hockey is facing an uphill battle to say the least.
-This is almost a mirror of the previous battle. Toe Jam & Earl was a good game with a unique style that drew many people in. To most people unfamiliar NHL 96 is just another hockey game. To those in the know NHL 96 still stands up to the test of time as one of the best hockey games of all time.
-Damn these games have the longest names ever...
DKC2 is a sequel to one of the best games released in the 16bit era, and this game doesn't fall far from it's predecessor. Road Runner's Death Valley Ralley was amazingly underrated. If you are a fan of Looney Tunes, this game took you through familiar levels and really displayed the speed of a game like Sonic and the classic platforming action of Mario set in the land of Looney Tunes. A personal favorite of mine.

What a strange show. First off Kevin K calls up and tears me a new one for violating the sanctity of the tournament with last week's decision to take the executive challenge for the coin flip which lead to Yoshi Island's over-ruling. Then Earthbound gets eliminated in the 1st Round as well as Comix Zone!! Unreal.
3 coinflips in this one as the decisions came down to the wire and no one could decide.
Stay tuned for the podcasts tomorrow night.

MegaMan X vs NCAA Basketball
Sonic 3: Sonic & Knuckles vs Final Fantasy III/6
Yoshi's Island vs Ghostbusters
Personally this is going to be a fun one to sit back and watch the carnage. We have Final Fantasy III, Sonic 3, Yoshi's Island all in the same block. This pulls on your heart strings already.
Prediction: I think we will see an upset and I'm going to go with Mega Man X to win the whole block & move onto the Final 8.
