Sonic The Hedgehog vs Mutant League Hockey
NHL 96 vs DKC 2
Final Battle
Sonic The Hedgehog vs DKC 2
This game changed the face of the 16bit era.Quick Block Analysis: Notes: In the end Donkey Kong Country 2 stood no chance against Sonic, although I feel as though Sonic is over-rated due to the lack of quality games on Genesis. In comparison Sonic is a great game, but I thought the depth of the levels in DKC 2 was impressive as well as the entire length of the game.

Final Battle
Donkey Kong Country VS Secret of Mana
The classic Earthbound didn't make it out of the first round!! Absurd!Quick Block Analysis: Notes: Comix Zone and Earthbound both eliminated in the first round! UN Squadron the sleeper gets into the Final 4, making it tough choices all around. In an epic battle Donkey Kong Country faces Super Metroid, it came down to a coinflip. From this coinflip Donkey Kong Country moves on, and callers are upset demanding a better decision making system than a coinflip! Secret of Mana squeeked by UN Squadron to face Donkey Kong Country in the finals, another decision that came down to the coinflip....
Donkey Kong Country!

One of the most jam-packed blocks full of amazing games that you will ever see, we have some legendary games that will be sent packing!Donkey Kong Country VS XMEN
Super Metroid VS Super Smash TV
Download Hour 1
Music: If the games weren't enough the music from this hour was epic as well. We had some DOD providing some Donkey Kong Country, and also on the Super Metroid songs as well. OC Remix came through with more Donkey Kong Country songs for enjoyment, check out their Kong in Concert album from ocremix.org. (FREE)
Quick Block Analysis: Very glad to see Metroid exact revenge on Smash TV from the 8bit Tournament. The cool thing about the XMEN game we learned that hitting the reset button just right beats the game! Imagine you figure that out but press the Reset button normally and reset your game, heartbreaking! No real surprizes at this point in the block......

**This battle sparked controversy read below
Final Battle
MegaMan X vs Final Fantasy III
Download Hour 2
Yoshi's Island got screwed in many people's opinion**Yoshi's Island Controversy: Yoshi's Island took on Final Fantasy III in Round 1 and it came down to a coinflip. The coinflip landed in the favor of Yoshi's Island so Yoshi's Island Moves on right? Well.... Jeff calls up to issue the Executive Challenge of the coinflp. Will for some stupid reason allows this to happen, and when the Executive Challenge is issued we had Kevin & Mets call up with opposing views on who should win. Will decides that each caller can make their case for the game they have chosen. Kevin explains how he had Yoshi's Island and it was fun and Final Fantasy III is not better than it. Mets' turn. Mets unleashes this amazing tale of how Final Fantasy III is one of the greatest games on the planet, let alone the system or RPG format. Will decides that Mets won the battle OVERTURNING the coinflip......
Music: More Final Fantasy III from OC remix, and some Sonic for the rest of Round 1. For the Final 4 we had some MegaManX & Yoshi's Island remixes from ocremix.org, as well as plenty of FFIII music.
Quick Block Analysis: MegaManX may have won this block either way, but Yoshi's Island def got screwed. Mortal Kombat did not get the proper respect in my opinion from our listeners in how good this game truly was.
Block 5:
Donkey Kong Country vs XMEN
Super Metriod vs Super Smash TV
Secret of Mana vs Earthbound
Comix Zone vs UN Squadron

Final Fantasy III vs Sonic 3: Sonic & Knuckles*

If Mortal Kombat wins the block then it will take on SFII in the Final 8Music: The Black Mages provided us with some Final Fantasy III music, and Rhayshon had an excellent version of the Mortal Kombat theme with electric guitar. We also went with some Mega Man X from the Neskimos as well as a few OC remixes from this selection.
Quick Block Analysis: This block proved to be different than last week where we saw some honest voting, even still it's a damn shame that NCAA Basketball had to go. It had the unfortunate fate of going up against a true classic of a game in Mega Man X, and really didn't stand a chance. We also saw the cult classic Zombies ate my neighbors fall to the legendary Mortal Kombat, but you hate to see a game like Zombies get elimnated.

Super Castlevania IV vs Evander Holyfield's Real Deal Boxing
*Dope Rule in effect!
Round 2:
Street Fighter II vs Super Double Dragon*
Ken Griffey Jr Presents MLB vs Super Castlevania IV
*Will Flips out on voters
Final:
Street Fighter II vs Super Castlevania IV
I didn't give Super Double Dragon it's proper respectAfter that it was a heated battle to get revenge on the host as Super Double Dragon nearly defeated Street Fighter II!! I flipped out and had some harsh words for the audience and then Street Fighter II moved on by 1 vote!! Ridiculous that it came down to that.
Music: Ken Griffey Jr's music as well as some sound effect from batters being struck out, Orchestrated Simcity music which was really nice, nearly every Super Castlevania IV OC Remix & some GOAT from Castlevania 3, but it's because GOAT rules.
Quick Block Analysis: I have some animosity towards the audience's trend to not vote with their hearts, but vote to get revenge. The battle lines have been drawn and it's only going to get worse from here.
Next week I offer an ultimatium to the audience.

Each week we will take 8 games and they will face off vs each other in a single elimination tournament of drama, nostalgia, hurt feelings, and crushed dreams.
This week we had Block #1 from our 16bit field of 64.
4th battle:
Vectorman vs Gradius 3
Two great games in their own rights, Vectorman was SEGA's answer to Donkey Kong Country and Gradius 3 was the first SNES installment of the series. Vectorman's plot was stolen for the movie Wall-E, and Gradius 3 introduced a great new mode for modifying and combining weaponry. These two games laid it all on the line, and the audience was split, so for the first time in this tournament we have a COINFLIP!
The New Frontier Las Vegas Nevada(out of business) One Dollar Gaming Token is our official coin for this block, and the dramatic sounds of the coinflip rang through. When the coin settled it was heads, Vectorman survives to the next round!
Vectorman def Gradius 3 via COINFLIP
Final 4:
Super Mario World
Contra 3
NBA Jam
Vectorman
Super Mario World vs Contra 3
When it comes down to it there are just some games that capture your imagination. You escape into the realms they create and for that time you and everyone else who have played that game are apart of the same journey. Super Mario World wasn't just a good game that came with the system that everyone played. It was a masterpiece that you got the SNES with.
Super Mario World def Contra
(vote tally: 4-1)
NBA Jam vs Vectorman
BOOOMSHAKALAKA!! HE'S ON FIRE!!
NBA Jam def Vectorman FLAWLESS VICTORY: 5-0
Final Battle of Block 1:
Super Mario World vs NBA Jam
At this point in the tournament it became apparent that people are scheming ALREADY. Already we see people with the hater vote ( vote against a title because it's too "strong"/popular) emerge. Well at one point the game was tied, NBA Jam and Super Mario World were tied! Honestly this made me sick. How?!! You can't tell me that NBA Jam, a wonderful game in it's own right, was anywhere near the quality, depth, and overall enjoyment of Super Mario World. So all the NBA Jam votes were hater votes. We are learning how to play the field of 64 quite early this time around aren't we. A tournament specialist Mets was on the line and he told us a tale of how NBA Jam destroyed his childhood from Blockbuster's Tournament of Champions regional tournaments. Finally Mets gets to exact revenge and sway the vote to Super Mario World, and all is right with the world!! But at what price......
Super Mario World wins!!
Super Mario World moves on to the Final 8 to compete against the winner of Block 2 for a spot in the Final 4.
Stay tuned......

Each week we will take 8 games and they will face off vs each other in a single elimination tournament of drama, nostalgia, hurt feelings, and crushed dreams.
This week we had Block #1 from our 16bit field of 64.
1st battle:
Super Mario World vs Clayfighter
Clayfighter held it's own, we found out that it won the award for "Best Street Fighter Wannabe" among others from EGM, plus we also learned Super Mario World's soundtrack was composed completely on an electronic keyboard from Koji Kondo. We also learned that Clayfighter did not stand much of a chance against Super Mario World.
Super Mario World def Clayfighter.
2nd battle:
Contra 3: The Alien Wars vs Jurassic Park
This battle featured the classic Contra franchise vs a movie turned into a game in Jurassic Park.
Jurassic Park featured surround sound and an awful ending which we spoil on the air. Considering the game had no save feature are you really going to play it through anyway? Although it looked like a sure win for Contra at first, when it came down to decision time Contra 3 only wins by 1 vote.
Contra 3 def Jurassic Park
3rd battle:
NBA Jam vs Super Star Wars
This was tough. Only because Super Star Wars is another movie adaptation to game, and people apparently love it! I thought NBA Jam would have swept this game but to my surprise NBA Jam squeeks by with 1 vote to spare.
NBA Jam def Super Star Wars

During the discussion of Mario Kart we talked about juice boxes and ended up bitching about how much CapriSun's suck, all from our time opening the hug juice containers on the fridge door in our basement.
Also we ran down the Streets of Rage storyline from the box/manual movie trailer style, which is always a good time.
Mortal Kombat's impact on the gaming industry, mainly the case in court that made the ESRB board take shape and the rating system we now love.

Zombies ate my neighbors is in!
One of the best quotes from a caller happened when Zack from Allentown, who called to defend Shadowrun and add Final Fantasy 3 to the bracket, was blasted for missing the show in favor of a TV show called Damages. We've made it into a promo.
Rob's Retro review featured Secret Of Mana where we learned that Rob chose this game facing gamer death due to a horrid report card as his swan song for the SNES.Music: We played Donkey Kong Country remixes from OC remix.org, Zombies ate my neighbors, Secret of Mana, and many more.
