5 mins of NES
On a whim I decided to hook up the NES to the show in order to play Renegade. The listeners loved how it sounded and the commentary as the game progressed, so now each week the NES comes out with a new challenge, and for at least 5 mins there will be video game blood shed on the show! Direct from the NES to your ears, it's 5 mins of NES carnage!!

URBAN CHAMPION CHALLENGE
Current Champion: Matt L (1-0) def Will in 3 rounds on July 29th 2009
This has really taken on a life of it's own, and for 1 month straight I took on all comers, and retained my title as the Urban Champion. I defeated computer and human opponents. Nothing stood a chance in a swollen-knuckle fury-driven tirade which saw punished faces, bruised kidneys, and so many would be bullies sent down the man-hole straight to hell!!
That was until Matt L came over to enjoy the festivities of the 8bit Extravaganza. One of the greatest NES players I've ever witnessed, I knew this guy would be trouble. The fists were furious, and never did he give up. I never encountered so much heart and determination in a fighter during my month on top as champion of all that is urban. The discount shop never saw battles so frenzied until today. At the end of the day I was battered, ribs were broken, orbital bone crushed in, but the worst injury I suffered so far was watching Matt stand over me as I fell into the darkness. As the confetti poured into the hole raining down on another man holding MY title I never felt such pain.

Double Dragon II
Double Dragon II is one of my favorite games of all time. We turn on this gem during our 3rd week covering the history of Beat-Em-Ups. I commentated the action going on during level 2 as I got my ass kicked by those damn purple ninjas, and finally made it to the helicopter.
G-R-A-S-P Later and we're in the helicopter. The blue-cement hands guys come out, then Abobo. Abobo is shirtless in a helicopter, and there are more than 1 of him. Watch out for his overhead throw, it'll throw you right out the damn door. We make it to Mission 4 where the green pants guys always back up and throw that stupid "thing" at you. I get hit at least 1x by it. Then we fight Arnold in the basement with the spiked ceiling. Fun stuff continues and I could go on all night about how much I love this game.
Off-air I get to the end level, fight those 2 ninjas again (but there is something like 4 of them) and I lose my last life dying trying to revenge Marion's death. I have failed you Marion.......

Renegade
This is the first game we put into the NES that went right over the air, and it sounded awesome. This was also the "Defense of Renegade Rant" that I did while playing the game. I was obsessed with Renegade and finally beat the game on the game blog 2 days before.
This game gets a bad rap due to Angry Video Game Nerd style reviews where people just bash a game. It's a sad pathetic attempt to rip-off an idea that has already been done. Renegade is a quality title if you sit down and actually play it. Is it difficult? Yes. Is it worth beating the game? Absolutely. The way the game ends is classic too. Renegade is awesome.
