Oh yes...Its baseball season...time for the new baseball game to be released. 2K Sports released its Demo for its 10th anniversary baseball game last night to the XBox Live and PSN Community's and although I've only played it three times so far I feel they tweaked it enough to have a good review.
The demo brings you the rematch of the 2009 World Series, the Philadelphia Phillies at the New York Yankees. You are only given 3 innings to play the game, and its set up that if you lose or win after the 3rd inning the game is actually over and it shows you the post game celebrations and whatnot.
The hitting and the pitching are reworked enough to appear as if they scrapped the old engine and remade a new one. It seems familar to previous years but it is not as buggy. The baseball in pitching seems to go where it is correctly placed, barring any messups of the particular pitch and as the batter there is actually a change of speeds of the ball that is good enough to make you pay attenion to the swings rather than just the routine down and up on the L3 of the conroller. The fielding is alot smoother as well and they seem to address that from year to year.
All and All I give this a 4 out of 5 ( the only game demo deservant of a 5 of 5 so far is NHL 10 )for a sports game demo. I am going to buy this game regardless but for people who feel the same garbage is put out year after year in sports games with just updated rosters this demo may change them. I haven't played the game long enough to see any bugs, but the demo is really only 10 minutes if you play through the 3 innings.
I recommend trying out this demo to get back at those Damn Yankees. Also you can try out Placido Polanco at 3rd base and the new ace Roy Halliday.
Also worth mentioning - 2K Sports to Award One Million Dollars to First Person to Throw a Perfect Game in Major League Baseball® 2K10.
